Genesis Systems is now offering it's G-Fense line of Email and Internet protection managed services.

Based on the well known and trusted Barracuda Networks line of products, Genesis' G-Fense encompasses In- and Out-Bound email protection, along with Spyware and Content Filtering for subscribers web-browsers.

G-Fense provides SPAM, Virus and Phishing filtering for incoming mail - dramatically cutting down the amount of SPAM the subscriber's employees will see in their inbox - up to 97%. G-Fense's outbound mail filtering ensures that subscribers mail servers, or possibly infected workstations, do not send Viruses and SPAM. Studies show that companies have been embarrased or even held accountable when a workstation becomes infected and suddenly it's customers are receiving SPAM or Viruses that are traced back to the companies workstation or servers.

As of January 1st, 2006, Genesis Systems has become Genesis Systems, LLC - A Nebraska Limited Liability Company, organized under the laws of the State of Nebraska.

Genesis Systems was founded by BJ Williams in 1985. Initially the company was formed to provide computer repair and parts sales. However, within the first few months the market showed that Computer Programming (Application Development) and Network Management and Support was a better fit.

"The computing landscape was very much different in those days. Networking as we know it now was non-existent then. Programming tools and languages today are head and shoulders above what we had to work with 'back in the day'.", say Brendan (BJ) Williams, President and Chief Software Architect.

Williams started his programming career in 1980 learning his craft on a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP-11, coding in FORTRAN and DEC's BASIC/RT-11.

Genesis launches newly revamped website

Today Genesis unveiled their newly redesigned website, part of a marketing push designed to coincide with October's Buy-the-Big-O Show.

In contrast to previous iterations, this version of the Genesis Website not only has been re-"skinned", but has been completely re-thought out.

"There were a number of major goals that we set out to solve", says Genesis Lead Developer Dusty Davidson. "First and foremost, we wanted the website to be 'shinier'. The previous website was a step in the right direction, but left a little to be desired. We feel that our website should accurately reflect our company, which I've always viewed as being very shiny."

This design picked up where the previous design left of, incorporating the new Genesis logo, and the "running man". In addition, the site loosely models the Genesis business card, for continuity.

"I've always felt that the Genesis business card is unique, and I get that same impression from people I hand them out to. When designing the site, I wanted someone who took the card and visited the site to see a connection between the two, and hopefully have the same positive experience with the website that they do with the card.", says Davidson.

Another major aspect of the redesign was the incorporation of additional content areas. This not only aides potential clients and other visitors to the site, but it also allows the Genesis Website to be more easily indexed located via search engines.

"Previous iterations of the Genesis website incorporated a great deal of flash animation and other graphical elements. These were impossible for search engines such as Google to index, and thus we ended up with limited search engine visibility.", says Davidson.

The new site completely does away with flash animation, for browser compatibility reasons, and makes wide use of actual text elements. In addition, the website has been thoroughly tested on all major browsers, including Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera.

Amidst much fanfare, blogs.genesissys.com is launched!

Today Genesis launched it's foray into the phenomenon known commonly as "blogging". Given the ubiquitous nature of blogs, and the ever increasing move of companies towards corporate blogging, we felt that now -- coinciding with the redesign of genesissys.com -- is the best time to do so.

There are a number of motivations behind this move towards a Genesis Blog, each of which will dictate the content that you see posted. First and foremost, in the words of Eric Sink, Genesis is looking to become more transparent. The goal is to give Genesis a personal face; to give people visiting the website the feeling that there's *actual* people working behind the scenes, and that it's not just a bunch of smoke and mirrors. So with this in mind, a goodly number of posts will be about "corporate" Genesis. Letting the people know about our company and our products.

The other major motivation is to be able to give back to the open source community. Genesis, like many other companies, owes a great debt of gratitude to the sundry code repositories (CodeProject, 4guys, etc) and blogs that exist out on the net. These people have gone out of their way to publish code for everyone to use. We too would like to give back to the community. Therefore, from time to time we will publish bits and pieces of source code that we have put together, if we feel that people could benefit from these tidbits.

More and more companies are moving towards corporate blogging these days. A simple search on Google shows this to be true. Genesis may not be the first, but we certainly won't be the last. Though, we just may be the first company in Omaha to try it.

Go-Live of Intech's new Home Banking application

After a lengthy rewrite of Intech's HomeBanking application, Genesis today rolled out the new version to production.

"We're really excited about this rollout", says BJ Williams, Owner and Chief Software Architect for Genesis. "The new HomeBanking is truly lightyears ahead of the old one. I think we really hit a home run with this one."

The project was rewrite of the existing ASP/Foxpro/MySQL application over to the .NET/SqlServer platform.

In addition to numerous bugfixes, performance enhancements, and architecture improvements the new product boasts the following addition features

An integrated, easy to use administrative interface
Extended cross account support
Integrated Change of address
Ability to further integrate E-Statements
Skinning Support per CU

"These are features that their credit unions have been asking about for a LOOONG time", says Williams. "I really think this new release is going to blow their socks off. "

The HomeBanking rewrite serves as the first in a series of rewrites/enhancements to Intech's growing product line.

"The hope is to further integrate these core pieces," says Williams, "and at the end have a single Banking application. Moving this HomeBanking component into production is a major milestone along the way."

Genesis announces plans to attend the 2005 Buy the Big-O Show

Genesis announced today it's plans to attend this year's Buy the Big-O Show, the region's largest and most prestigious business-to-business trade show.

"We believe that this could really be a shot in the arm for the company", says VP, Director of, Brad Williams. "We've always considered ourselves to be 'Omaha's best kept secret', and we feel that this is our opportunity to let the secret out of the bag."

Though just announced, plans are already underway to incorporate a number of elements that make Genesis the company that it is. These include taking down one or two cars (GTOs, Cuda), possibly some video games (MAME cabinet, dartboard), the plasma television, and various other attention-getters.

"Really what we want, is to stand out", says Williams. "What better way to stand out than with a couple of muscle cars and some arcade games!"

There are also plans to distribute a number of freebies, in an effort to get the Genesis brand name out. Preliminary freebie ideas are things such as T-Shirts, Koozies, Canvas bags, laser pointers, and others.

"The idea is to give people something that they will use and not throw away, so that the Genesis logo is forever in front of them", Williams adds.

With well over a month before the actual show, there is much planning to be done, and things to be worked out.

"If nothing else, we're going to have a heck of a time while we're down there!", Williams says.

The Buy the Big 'O' Show will be held October 11th, 2005, at the Qwest Center Omaha.
